The assistant is part of the Growth plan and above. See Plans.
The in-app assistant (bottom-right of every app page) answers two kinds of questions:
  • Product questions — “how do I connect GitLab?”, “what does pickup time mean?” — answered from this documentation.
  • Your data — “How did cycle time trend this month?”, “What’s our investment mix this quarter?”, “Which team has the slowest review pickup?” — answered from your account’s live metrics, the same numbers the dashboards show.

Answers you can check

Every data answer ends with a link to the dashboard that shows those numbers, so you can verify rather than trust. The assistant reads through the exact same account-scoped metric services as the dashboards — there is no separate compute path to drift.

What it won’t do — by design

  • Rank individuals. Ask “who’s my slowest engineer?” and it will decline and offer the team-health views instead — activity counts aren’t a measure of individual performance, and the whole product is built team-level.
  • Peek behind anonymity. Survey questions honour the same anonymity thresholds as the survey dashboards; below the threshold it tells you results are hidden and why.
